About the Event

This year we are doing the Great Kindness Challenge a little differently. The Sunnyside PTA is adding a fundraising element to the event with Raise Craze. Raise Craze is an online platform enabling participants to set up secure, custom websites where they request donations via email, text, and social media. During the fundraiser, participants will choose to complete certain Acts of Kindness (AOK) and then log them when completed. We invite the school community to participate by donating to the PTA.

OUR GOAL IS $10,000 because…

The Sunnyside PTA needs funds for programs like yearbook, T-shirts for all students, Chess Club (when it returns) and more. When we are able, the Sunnyside PTA organizes school community events like Spring Family Night, Back to School night and movie nights. The Sunnyside PTA also provides teacher funds to support classroom learning.

Ways to donate

If you prefer to send cash or check, you can send it to school with your child.

*IMPORTANT* To prevent money getting lost, please put any cash and/or checks inside a sealed envelope labeled with the donor’s name, your child’s name, grade, and teacher.

Make checks payable to Sunnyside PTA.

You can also donate directly to the PTA in the PTA store. This type of donation will not be linked to a student.

About the Great Kindness Challenge

At the heart of The Great Kindness Challenge is the simple belief that kindness is strength. We also believe that as an action is repeated, a habit is formed. With the Great Kindness Challenge BINGO card in hand, students have the opportunity to repeat kind act after kind act. As kindness becomes a habit, peace becomes possible. The Great Kindness Challenge is a grassroots movement that is making our schools, communities, and world a kinder and more compassionate place for all. Working together, we joyfully prove that KINDNESS MATTERS!

Spirit Week

February 14th – 18th, 2022

Kindness Shirt — Monday: Wear a shirt that shows kindness.

Wednesday: Funny Feet Day. Wear wacky or mismatched shoes or socks (or both).

Thursday: Pick a color day – wear all the same color of your choice

Incentives

We have some fun prizes planned for the event.

Kindness BINGO

Make sure you write your name, grade and teacher on the top of your card. Log your Acts of Kindness (AOK) on your Raise Craze page.

Complete a row on your BINGO card, and turn it in for a mystery brag tag & chain.
Your card will be returned to you. Complete the card and turn it in to get a prize bag. Students can choose to do either side of the BINGO card, or both.

Caught Being Kind

Staff members will be giving out brag tags to students throughout the event when they observe acts of kindness.

Raffle Prizes

Every student who participates in the Great Kindness Challenge will be entered into a raffle for prizes. Students can receive additional raffle entries:
☑️ Get one raffle ticket for bringing in any donation. Bring in $20 or more in donations and receive an additional ticket.
☑️ Receive a raffle ticket for each completed row of the BINGO card. Complete both sides for up to 10 additional tickets.

Class Awards

For each grade level, the class that logs the most AOKs will receive a trophy.
For each grade level, the class that has the most in donations will receive a trophy.

Rock’n Recess with a Twist!

If the school reaches 1500 acts of kindness, everyone gets a Rock’n Recess with a twist. Don’t forget to log your acts of kindness. You can also fill up the Kindness Wall in the cafeteria.
